Another fine young musician awes Colyton
On the evening of Saturday 7th March, at a concert arranged by the Friends of St Andrew’s, Colyton (FoStA), an enthusiastic audience was entertained by a fine young guitarist Andrey Lebedev playing a remarkable range of music from J.S.Bach to the less familiar, Leo Brouwer.
Andrey demonstrated a supreme command of his instrument. His rapt audience, who had remained uncannily quiet and attentive throughout the performance, responded with almost explosive applause after the final tantalising note faded into the fabric of the church. A sparkling encore of Una limosna por el amor by Agustín Barrios, ‘Mangoré’, closed a sublime concert.
FoStA are proud to work closely with the Tillett Trust Young Artist Platform, “supporting tomorrow's classical music stars today”, and help bring such brilliance to East Devon.
FoStA’s next event will be a talk on a subject very dear to all our hearts this time of year, our blossoming gardens. Ambra Edwards, an award-winning journalist, campaigner and columnist, will present a beautifully illustrated lecture, entitled The Romance of the Walled Garden on Wednesday 25th March at 7.30pm.
All FoStA’s events take place in the beautiful surroundings of St Andrew’s Church and the money raised is used to maintain the historic building for the benefit, enjoyment and appreciation of the whole community.
